You are invited to support the pursuit of optimal health through the 2010 Employee Sharing Program.
As part of the Bellin Health team, you make a valuable contribution by working in a place of service, compassion and caring. The Employee Sharing Program provides employees with another means to make a positive impact for employees, patients and families.
Your gift speaks volumes to our patients and the community. It says you believe in the mission and values of your workplace, and you are willing to take action to demonstrate it.
Through the 2010 Employee Sharing Program, you may contribute to existing scholarships, a fund designated for the greatest needs throughout the health system, or a category called “Bellin Special Programs.” This year, the new “Emergency Services Pavilion” is the designated recipient of the Bellin Special Program funds.
All donors who make a gift will be recognized as a 2010 Employee Sharing Program participant in the Employee Sharing Book in the hospital’s Laird Welcome Center. Additionally, you will receive a commemorative pin. Please accept this token of gratitude on behalf of the individuals and families we serve.
Please return the election form by March 1, 2010 using the provided envelope.
You may direct Employee Sharing Program questions to The Bellin Foundation, (920) 433-3676 or nwbush@bellin.org.
Bellin Emergency Pavilion
The new Emergency Pavilion has been designated as Bellin’s Special Program this year. Renovations of Bellin Health’s Emergency Department are underway and will be complete in the Spring of 2010. The project will enhance our services for the individuals and families in the communities we serve.
To those in need of emergency care, there is little that can substitute for quick, decisive action from skilled professionals. The health system has begun renovations to continue to provide safe, accessible and cost-effective health care of the highest quality – matching the needs of the community.
Bellin Health sees more than 30,000 Emergency Department patients, annually. Community growth and an aging population have contributed to an increased demand. This trend is expected to continue as the nation’s largest generation – Baby Boomers – ages, increasing the likelihood of severe illness and the need for emergency care.
Remodeling the current Emergency Department, built in 1953, is a proactive move to address the expected demand in services. The current facility, while adequate, was not designed to fully support the modern technology of a quality health care facility.
This facility will help Bellin Health provide world-class emergency care to patients across Northeast Wisconsin. Features will include:
- Sixteen individual patient rooms
- KidCare (pediatric emergency care) treatment
- Diagnostic suite
- Enlarged ambulance bays offering easier access for emergency vehicles
- Family lounge and counseling area
- Emergency medical services personnel lounge
- Centralized nurse’s station
Mike Wilde Nursing Scholarship
Michael Wilde was a long-time colleague and compassionate caregiver. In the last few months of his life, Mike expressed a heartfelt desire to establish an endowed scholarship to support the dreams and wishes of young people interested in nursing.
Each year, two nursing scholarships are awarded: one to a student enrolled in the Bellin College of Nursing or NWTC and one to a graduate from Monroe High School (Mike’s alma mater) who has an interest in pursuing a career in nursing.
George Bennett Nursing Education Scholarship
In 2007, Bellin lost George Bennett, a long time employee in the Advanced Care Department. During his illness, George expressed a desire to establish an endowed scholarship fund to support continuing nursing education for his peers. With the overwhelming support of colleagues and Friends, the George Bennett Scholarship was formed.
Each year, the Bellin College of Nursing will award to a nurse who meets the set criteria and is enrolled in the Bachelor’s of Science degree program the George Bennett Nursing Education Scholarship.
Robert W. Fry Employee Assistance Fund
In 2007, Bob Fry, Vice President Diagnostic and Hospital-Base Physician Services, retired after 33 years at Bellin Health. With a generous gift from Bob, a special employee assistance fund was established -- Robert W. Fry Employee Assistance Fund.
The fund will be utilized to help employees and their families through emergency crisis situations. The following are examples of requests for funds:
- Needed counseling, cannot pay for uninsured portion when services are rendered.
- Single parent whose only car needs repairs. Without a car cannot come to work.
- Parent/child dies unexpectedly out-of-state. Money needed for airline ticket to attend funeral.
- Unanticipated medical situation puts employee financially behind and needs money to pay rent/mortgage.
- Have a personal emergency (natural disasters, fire, etc.)
- Have exhausted all other financial avenues to remedy their personal crisis.
The fund can be accessed by contacting Chaplaincy or The Bellin Foundation who will in turn review the request with a committee made up of: The Bellin Foundation, Chaplaincy, Human Resources, and Administration. Assistance for emergencies and crisis situation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
